independant contractor (IC) FAQ

Independent Contractor (IC) Status vs. Employee Status

SAYtr offers the opportunity to work either as an Employee or an Independent Contractor (IC).

  • Is there a difference in earnings potential between the two options?  Yes. Offering this option does enable us to pay a higher salary to IC's.
  • Do I need to create my own company in order to be an IC?  No. As an IC, you work for SAYtr as an individual.  As an IC your main responsibility is to take care of your own taxes and insurance.
  • Is working as an IC more flexible to my life arrangement?  Yes.  IC's can more readily customize your benefits and hours, meeting a healthy balance between Client needs and personal requirements.
  • Anything else?  IC's have numerous tax write-offs such as those listed below.
    • Health Insurance
    • Mileage for work
    • Meals with client
    • Vehicle
    • Business Supplies
    • Mortgage Interest
    • Clothing
    • Tolls
    • Home Office

For more information on IC Status, please consult your accountant.
