Tamara Saj Biography Tamara Saj is the founder of the Cape Fear Arte Flamenco of North Carolina. She currently studies and receives coaching under Flamenco Maestro Teo Morca. In January 2006, Tamara was selected to open the regional runway show for UPN's America's Top Model. In 2004, she was hand-picked for the signature performance at the Nebraska presidential rally for John Kerry. In 2002 she performed solo for the vice president of Nicaragua Leopoldo Navarro and his delegation during a diplomatic visit to the United States. In addition to Teo Morca, Tamara credits influences in her artistry to mentors, instructors, and friends Michele "La Miguelita" Serratore, Solangel "Lali" Calix, Michele "La Micaela" Paule, John Lawrence, Chayito Champion, Antonio Hidalgo, Jaquelyn "La Morena" Rodriguez, Teresa Champion, and Zenon Ramos-Reyes. Tamara was an apprentice member of Micaela y Fiesta Flamenca dance company in New Orleans in 2000. She has performed with the Alianza Flamenca in the New Orleans French Quarter, and as a soloist across the United States. Tamara currently performs throughout the Cape Fear region of North Carolina, with occasional appearances in San Antonio, Texas. Tamara Saj is a second generation student of Carmen Amaya and Luisa Triana. In addition to her flamenco training, Tamara has studied classical ballet (Ballanchine and Vagavnova) with companies including the Richmond Ballet and the Ballet Theater of Boston. She has performed in operas and has toured in Japan.
